Just a mile down the road, Glastonbury is the seat of Christianity in the UK and reputed to be the Ancient Isle of Avalon from Arthurian legend. The High Street offers an eclectic mix of esoteric shops and eating outlets.

Wells is approx. 8 miles away and is the smallest individual city in England. Home to a stunning cathedral, historic buildings and weekly market, picturesque Wells is the perfect base to explore The Mendips.

Built for pleasure and relaxation, beautiful Bath has been a wellbeing destination since Roman times. The waters are still a big draw, both at the ancient Roman Baths and the thoroughly modern Thermae Bath Spa, housing the only natural thermal hot springs in Britain you can bathe in.

Home to "We The Curious" visitor attraction and Brunel's SS Great Britain, Bristol is a great family day out.

Durdle Door & Lulworth Cove

Part of the stunning Jurassic Coast, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove are adjacent to each other approx. 50 miles away. Although a bit of a drive, this stunning coastline is well worth a visit. When we head to the beach we always go south towards Lulworth, Lyme Regis, Weymouth, West Bay and Charmouth.

Longleat Safari Park

Featured in the BBC series Animal Park, Longleat is home to all manner of exotic animals. The drive-through safari gets you "up close and personal" with lions, tigers, wolves and the cheeky Macaque monkeys, whilst the rest of the park ensures a fun filled day out, whatever the weather.

Wookey Hole Caves

Wookey Hole is probably the premier show caves in the UK. Along with the stunning cave system, the park offers over 20 attractions in the day ticket price. These include animatronic dinosaurs, pirate golf, mystic fairy garden, penny arcade and paper mill.

West Somerset Railway

The West Somerset Railway is the longest heritage steam railway in the UK. It runs from Bishop's Lydeard just outside Taunton to Minehead. The railway passes through the Quantock Hills, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty, before following the coastline around Exmoor.
